ore stage play than film, “Sexy Beast” lets Ben Kingsley run the table. Retired gangster Gal and his wife Dee Dee live in a lovely house in Spain. Cometh Don Logan, (Kingsley) a fast-talking, British Godfather who wants to recruit Gal for a new job. Bald and supercharged, he shamelessly praises and humiliates. Gal says “no,” Don doesn’t understand the word, and the standoff pushes, low boil, toward disaster. Don’s raging bull presence undoes Gal’s idyll at ever level, which is director Jonathan Glazer’s intent. There’s no leaving the underworld. Kingsley’s primal roar, a vernacular of daggers, is wilting.
