on Shelton’s movie is a well-intentioned fiasco. Harrison Ford is L.A. police Sgt. Joe Gavilan. He does homicide, sells real estate, and has a psychic girlfriend (Lena Olin) who’s also a radio medium. Younger partner Detective K.C. Calden (Josh Hartnett) teaches yoga and flirts. They’re supposed to be the Odd Squad. Shelton wants a postmodern Keystone Kops: distracted cops in over their heads solving crimes by comic accident. But Ford and Hartnett don’t mesh. The mood’s all wrong. Bumbling guys are just bumbling guys unless you like them. No such luck.
