A look at the 19th-century Italian landscapes as portrayed by the Macchiaioli “school,” including Giuseppe De Nittis, Giovanni Fattori, Antonio Fontanesi, Bartolomeo Bezzi and Gaetano Previati. The Macchiaioli group worked mainly in Tuscany in the second half of the century. They broke with conventions taught by Italian academies of art, did much of their painting outdoors in order to capture natural light, shade, and color. Some 80 works are on display. Hours: Tue-Sun 10am-6pm; Fri 10-9pm. Closed Monday.
